FAQ

What if I have a medical emergency?

Call 911 for a life-threatening medical emergency, or call 988 for a mental health emergency. As is the case now, you will be directed to the appropriate Emergency Room or Urgent Care facility of your choice.

Will there be an after-hours on-call doctor or nurse practitioner available?

NO. We will no longer provide a 24-hour on-call service. If you need to see or talk to a medical provider outside of regular appointment times, we ask that you contact your hospital Emergency Room or the Urgent Care facility of your choice.

How do I set up a virtual care appointment?

To make an appointment, go to your existing patient portal on Athena, our medical records system, by clicking the button below.

If you are an existing patient but do not have a patient portal, use the same button to create an account.

We are not taking new patients at this time.

Can I set up a Telehealth appointment if I am out of state?

Linda Gromko MD and Carol Keenholts ARNP can provide care ONLY in Washington state where they are licensed. You will be asked to attest that you are in Washington state at the beginning of your Telehealth visit. It may be possible for you to schedule a Telehealth appointment during a visit to Washington state. In addition, Planned Parenthood has been an excellent referral source for transgender medicine, PAP tests, and other women’s healthcare services.

How do I refill my medications?

Refill your medications by contacting your pharmacy. They will fax us and we will refill your prescription if appropriate.

We refill prescriptions only for active patients and only during regular office hours.

How do I refill my ADHD medications?

If you are taking ADHD medications, we must have a Telehealth appointment at least every three months. Please make your appointments in advance so that you do not run out of your medications.

We refill prescriptions only for active patients and only during regular office hours.

How do I refill my pain and mental health medications?

If you are taking these medications, you may need a Telehealth appointment every three months.

If you are taking narcotic pain medications or medications for your mental health (anxiety medications, antidepressants, etc.), please understand that timely refills are important. Contact your pharmacy well before you run out.

We refill prescriptions only for active patients and only during regular office hours.

Can I refill medications after hours?

NO. We will not be filling prescriptions after hours. You may leave a message on your portal, and we will respond within a period of 24-72 hours.

If you need urgent medications, you are directed to the hospital Emergency Room or the Urgent Care facility of your choice for in-person care.

For routine medications, contact your pharmacy first, and they will submit a request to us. These are filled on a routine basis. Remember also that there is no longer a 24-hour pharmacy in Seattle.

We refill prescriptions only for active patients and only during regular office hours.

How do I get my blood drawn?

Since we will no longer have a physical clinic, we will no longer offer on-site blood draws. We will order your lab tests through LabCorp. LabCorp has locations all over the Pacific Northwest – and our orders will apply to any of their draw sites.

Haven’t heard your test results?

If you haven’t received your lab or imaging results and it’s been two weeks, let’s track them down. Notify us by sending a message on your patient portal, and we’ll investigate.

Are you getting your lab results too early?

You may get your lab results before your providers see them. When we do get them, we will send you an interpretation of your results, which may answer your questions or concerns. If you haven’t heard from your provider after 7-10 days, please leave a message on your patient portal.

Will you still take insurance? Will you require cash payments?

As always, that depends on the insurance companies. Going forward, some companies may not pay for Telehealth visits at all. If you are not covered by insurance – or if QAMR does not take your insurance, you may pay by VISA, Mastercard, Venmo, or Paypal at the time of your visit.

Do you take Medicare?

We have taken Medicare assignment for over 35 years and will continue to do so as long as Medicare pays us for your care.

Will you be taking ALL your existing patients? Will you be taking new patients?

There are some or our existing patients with medical circumstances that are too complex to be served in a Telehealth practice. We will try to let you know if that is the case for you – in which case, you will be asked to find another healthcare provider or clinic. (Larger networks such as Swedish Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and Virginia Mason are recommended.)

We will not be accepting new patients, although that may change in the future.

How do I get my records transferred to another facility?

You may have your electronic medical records transferred to the new facility of your choice. Request a Transfer of Records form through your patient portal. It is our policy to retain records for ten years.

Does this mean that Queen Anne Medical no longer recommends getting physical examinations?

Not at all. We encourage you to get mammograms, PSA tests for prostate screening if you are 50 or over, Paps if you have a cervix, colonoscopies beginning for most people at 45, etc. Many doctors no longer do annual physicals at all – which is a point of heated debate among healthcare providers. We realize that we can no longer provide ALL the care needed by an individual; our experience shows that we are excellent advocates and problem solvers on our patients’ behalf.
