Consultations are designed to orient newcomers to Electrolysis. During your consultation, we will:
We ask you to schedule a consultation visit with one of our Electrologists, even if you've had many Electrolysis treatments before. You may elect to have your consultation followed immediately by an Electrolysis session.
Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal. It involves sliding a tiny probe into a hair follicle, and destroying the follicle by applying an electric current. At Queen Anne Medical, we use the blend method (combining the galvanic method and thermolysis). It is especially appropriate for very light colored hair (blond, red, white, gray) that cannot be removed by laser. It can be done on any area of the body, including the face (e.g., upper lip, chin, beard), breasts, underarms, arms, legs, and genital area.
For some people, Electrolysis can be accomplished with minimal – if any – discomfort. But others do experience pain, particularly when we are working in sensitive areas. Numbing gel can be used in any area commonly undergoing Electrolysis, and we can offer strong prescription strength gel applied in our office 30-60 minutes prior to your appointment at no additional charge. (Naturally, you cannot use this if you are allergic to Lidocaine or other components of the gel.)
If needed - and if there are no medical contraindications - oral pain and/or anxiety medications can be prescribed. It is essential that you have a driver for a safe trip home.
Dental blocks to numb the upper and/or lower lip are available and must be coordinated with the schedules of the Electrologist and Dr. Gromko. We also offer scrotal blocks (injectable anesthesia) for clients who are preparing for Gender Confirming Surgery (Vaginoplasty). Contact Program Director Suzi Spinner at (206) 281-7163 ext 15 for further information. We charge $75 for each dental or scrotal block.
Minimum treatment fee $35
*Prices include prescription-strength topical numbing medication which must be applied in the clinic. Please arrive 30-60 minutes prior to your apointment to allow for adequate relief. Note also that scrotum and/or penile Electrolysis is priced at an additional 20 percent over prices listed above. Fees are subject to change without notice.
We accept cash, checks, and major credit/debit cards. Payment is due at the time of service.
If you believe your health insurance may cover electrolysis, we will give you a receipt for you to submit.
You may want to ask about CareCredit at your Electrolysis Consultation.
