Care at Queen Anne Medical Associates is provided by Linda Gromko, MD, and by Registered Nurse Practitioner Carol Keenholts.
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners are Master's level Registered Nurses who have gone through special training in the evaluation and treatment of patients.
Our Nurse Practitioner is able to prescribe medications, make appropriate referrals, and provide most of the sevices provided by our physician, although Dr. Gromko serves as the direct consultant.
In Family Practice, Nurse Practitioners provide first-line care for patients and families in all states of health and illness, and in all stages of life. Mary Ellen Maxell ARNP, who has recently retired from QAMA states, "Nurse Practitioners work together with you to promote a higher level of health and function. We focus on preventing illness while managing urgent, short-term and chronic problems".
Linda Gromko, MD
Dr.Gromko became interested in healthcare as a Candy Striper at age 14. She earned both a Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Nursing from the University of Washington. She has done bedside patient care, and worked as a Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Educator at Planned Parenthood prior to enrolling in the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Gromko completed a residency in Family Medicine, also at the University of Washington, in 1987. Before establishing her independent practice, Dr. Gromko served as an emergency room physician and worked in a variety of women's clinics.
Dr. Gromko's marriage in midlife took her into another area of medical exploration when her late husband fell abruptly into diabetic kidney failure. Having assisted with his home dialysis for several years before his death, Dr. Gromko is zealous about the prevention of diabetes and its complications, and is a strong advocate for the use of home dialysis when dialysis is needed. She is a frequent speaker in this area, and has written several books, Complications: A Doctor's Love Story, Let me Go When the Banter Stops: A Doctor's Fight for the Love of Her Life, and Arranging Your Life When Dialysis Comes Home: The Underwear Factor (co-authored by Jane C. Carol Keenholts, MN ARNP
Carol, Keenholts, MN, ARNP, joined Queen Anne Medical Associates, PLLC, in 2006. Ms. Keenholts graduated from Jefferson University in Philadelphia in 1975, and completed her Master of Science in Nursing at University of Washington in 1981. Prior to coming to Queen Anne, Ms. Keenholts worked for many years at Magnolia Family Medicine. She brings decades of experience in women's health care, Pediatrics, and allergy management. She is known for her excellent listening skills and collaborative problem solving with her patients.
Ms. Keenholts is married with two grown children and two grandchildren.
